I first was introduced to Wallace & Gromit through my elementary school music teacher Mrs. Koudijs. Every so often, we would watch a Wallace & Gromit episode during music class. Now, as a teacher I realise those were probably days that Mrs. Koudijs wasn't feeling too well, or was overtired, stressed out, or just in need of break! Either way, everyone in my class loved those days! I encourage you, that if you have never heard of Wallace & Gromit, or if you just haven't watched an episode, that you take the 25 minutes to watch one. They are comical, creative, and almost brilliant if you think about the intricate work it takes to film a claymation piece.
Musical Marvel's features Wallace & Gromit clips that are played to classical orchestral pieces. While watching the orchestra, I was reminded of the great times I had in Grades 7 & 8 as well as high school playing the violin as part of the orchestras and string groups. I'd forgotten how orchestral music can tell a story just as much as a vocal song with words. So much can still be expressed through instrumentation, dynamics, tempo, rhythm and expression of the music.
It was an interesting concert to say and I'm glad I took the opportunity to see it here in London and add it to my adventures!
