A Chorus Line!

Last Wednesday, April 3rd, is when my Mom arrived in London town!

So, for something fun to do in the afternoon before the jet lag set in, we decided to go and see a musical.

The one we chose?

A Chorus Line!

I wasn't really familiar with this musical until I watched a documentary on Netflix about the casting of the show's broadway revival in New York City. I learned that the story of the musical revolved around real life dancers and broadway aspirers who were trying to make it on the big stage in NYC. The musical's director Michael Bennett was inspired by the true stories and backgrounds of the young people that were interviewed as research for the production. So, the musical focuses on 17 auditionees who are vying for a part in a chorus line. It tells the story of the individual performers, giving glimpes into their background and life stories thus far, while setting them to and including musical numbers.

It's a different musical than anything I have seen before, and while it didn't leave me bouncing around and singing on the street afterwards, I still enjoyed the story. It's definitely worth seeing, even if just of interest about the everyday life of a dancer or singer hoping to make it on Broadway.
